Beach Buddy

If you are not a parent or grand parent you may not want to read further.  But, if you are please share my pain.  Today my almost 4 year old grand daughter went back home after a week at the beach with her doting grand parents.  She didn't miss her parents for one minute....how could she we never gave her a free second to think about anything but fun.

She was fearless at the beach as the waves rolled over her little tanning body.  She built sand castles, played pirate, dug a hole to sit in and found lots of shells that are on their way to Indiana.

We ate out, ran errands, shopped and ate at Costco, read stories, colored pictures, took naps (yes both of us) and had a ball.

Now I am miserable.  Teary eyed and down right sad.  I left my cell phone on the roof of my car and drove away (some nice man found it and called my home) as my heart kept thinking about her big blue eyes.  I will recover.  After all thanksgiving is only a few months away and there is next summer to look forward to.

We were in Michigan for three weeks in July. When we left my mom said she didn't stay in the house more than an hour or so at a time, it was too quiet. She always gets so down when we leave. I of course get to hear the sobs from my two girls from Ann Arbor to Dayton (3 hours). Then they start to look forward to coming home.
